This is an original oil painting from Cam Rackam. Grisaille Underskull measures 7.5"x9.5" and was finished in February 2018. With frame the final size is 15.5"x17". The image is painted from a real human skull that Cam used as a reference.
Grisaille is a gray monochrome method of painting. Using just black and white oil paint, these studies combine many photorealistic elements including; extreme close ups, forshortening, and depth of feild. Artists during the Renaissance were trained in grisaille techniques, usually resembles drawing or sculpture.
